Grover Washington, Jr. (December 12, 1943 - December 17, 1999),was an American jazz-funk / soul-jazz saxophonist. Along with George Benson, John Klemmer, David Sanborn, Bob James, Chuck Mangione, Herb Alpert, and Spyro Gyra, he is considered by many to be one of the founders of the smooth jazz genre.He wrote some of his material and later became an arranger and producer.

Michael Zager (born 3 January 1943, Passaic, New Jersey) has produced, composed, and/or arranged original music in a wide range of musical idioms, including commercials, albums, network television, and as a source for theme music for films.Zager has produced Grammy Award winning artists: Whitney Houston, Cissy Houston, Gladys Knight, Peabo Bryson, Luther Vandross, Deniece Williams, Jennifer Holliday, Joe Williams, Arturo Sandoval, Herb Alpert, Olatunji, and The Spinners. He also co-wrote the Patti Day hit "Right Before My Eyes" with Alexander Forbes. Some of Zager’s original scores and original studio recordings of Whitney Houston, The Spinners, and the Michael Zager Band, reside in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.

Curtis Mayfield _ Curtis/Live!_1971

Curtis/Live! is Curtis Mayfield’s first live album, after leaving The Impressions. Originally released in May 1971 as a double LP on Mayfield's Curtom label (distributed through Neil Bogart's Buddah Records), the album's twelve tracks (track listing below is from the 2000 Rhino reissue, which includes two bonus tracks) — along with Mayfield's interstitial raps on the politics of the day — were recorded at Paul Colby's Bitter End nightclub in New York City. According to John Abbey, who at the beginning of the 1970s was editor of the UK magazine Blues & Soul, Mayfield and his band's first set at a Bitter End date in January 1971 comprised the bulk of the music presented here. Mixed primarily with Eddie Kramer at Electric Lady Studios, the album features Master Henry Gibson playing percussion, Craig McMullen on rhythm guitar, Joseph "Lucky" Scott on bass, and Tyrone McCullen on drums.

Joe Bataan - Riot_1968

Joe Bataan (also spelled Bataán)born 1942 in Spanish Harlem, New York City) is an African American and Filipino]-American Latin R&B musician from New York. He was born Bataan Nitollano and grew up in the 103rd St. and Lexington Ave. part of East Harlem where he briefly led the Dragons, a local Puerto Rican street gang, before being sent to the Coxsackie Correctional Facility to serve time for a stolen car charge.
